Project Update: Parking at Vista del Mar Park
September 8, 2017
This morning LADOT restored time-limited parking on the east side of Vista del Mar adjacent to Vista del Mar Park. This parking provides access to an otherwise isolated treasured public park, but does not serve the beach across the street.
Special Traffic Alert: Changes Coming to Vista del Mar, in Playa del Rey
August 9, 2017
Later this month the Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT) will add one additional travel lane
southbound from Waterview Street to Imperial Highway and one additional travel lane northbound from
Imperial Highway to Napoleon Street on Vista del Mar. Parking on Vista del Mar will be removed.
Construction is expected to begin Monday, August 21st and take 2-3 weeks to complete.
Changes Coming This Week to Culver & Vista del Mar
On Saturday July 29th, the Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT) will be implementing a new traffic pattern at the intersection of Culver and Vista Del Mar. The traffic signal will be modified to ease congestion and provide smoother traffic flow. To accommodate these changes, some drivers will access their destinations in a new way. The diagram to the left provides an overview of these changes.
Culver, Jefferson, Pershing
LADOT recently installed transportation safety enhancements along Pershing Dr, Culver Blvd, and Jefferson Blvd in Playa del Rey. The new street designs along Culver Blvd and Pershing Dr incorporate protected turn lanes that make the street more accessible and safe.
The new street design addresses acute safety issues on Vista del Mar for beach visitors. Vista del Mar runs along Dockweiler Beach in the Playa del Rey neighborhood. LADOT took action to address the immediate safety issues on the street prior to the high-use summer months. LADOT removed parallel parking from the east side of the street to eliminate unsafe crossings, reconfigured parking to maintain/increase access to affordable parking, and added new designated areas for safe u-turns.
